SCPIE has more than 10,000 policyholders including physicians, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, other healthcare providers and a variety of healthcare facilities.
The parent of The SCPIE Companies is SCPIE Holdings Inc., an insurance holding company domiciled in the state of Delaware. It has been publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange since January 1997. Its operating subsidiaries are as follows:
SCPIE Indemnity Company
This successor to the Southern California Physicians Insurance Exchange insures physicians, clinics, managed care organizations and other healthcare providers and facilities in California.
Subsidiary American Healthcare Indemnity Company, a licensed carrier in nearly all states and the District of Columbia, insures physicians, clinics, managed care organizations and other
healthcare providers and facilities. American Healthcare Specialty Insurance Company, another subsidiary, is licensed only in Arkansas. It can write excess and surplus lines insurance on
a nonadmitted basis (except in Arkansas). SCPIE Underwriting Limited, a limited-liability corporate entity, enables SCPIE to provide underwriting capacity to select syndicates at Lloyd's of London.
SCPIE Management Company
Manages the business of the insurance companies under a management contract with each of the companies. SCPIE Insurance Services, Inc., a subsidiary of SCPIE Management Company, is an insurance
agency licensed in California. SCPIE Management Services, Inc., another subsidiary, acts as a third-party administrator to provide unbundled risk management and claims management services.
Even though the SCPIE family of companies has many divisions, all are joined by a single philosophy: a commitment to excellence in providing comprehensive healthcare liability insurance services that truly respond to the evolving needs of insureds.
