CME Programs

SCPIE is pleased to offer the following Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses:

  • “Commitment and Compassion: Pain Management and Palliative Care” is a self-study CME course that, when successfully completed, fulfills the 12-hour CME requirement mandated for California physicians.

    (Note: Pathologists and radiologists are exempt. Physicians with an active license before 1/1/02 must earn the 12 CME credits by 12/31/06. Physicians licensed on or after 1/1/02 must complete the requirement within four years of their initial licensure or by their second renewal date, whichever occurs first.)

    The course, which consists of three modules, is aimed at improving patient care and reducing potential medical malpractice liability exposures arising from pain management and the treatment of terminally ill patients.

    • The test processing fee for each module is $40 for SCPIE/AHI insureds, $60 for nonpolicyholders who are members of a sponsoring medical society, and $80 for nonpolicyholders who are not members of a sponsoring medical society.
