Our agency/brokerage business is handled through subsidiary American Healthcare Indemnity Co. (AHI). Retail brokers can access SCPIE-AHI through select wholesale brokers or on a direct-brokerage basis. We offer competitive commissions to qualified brokers who meet certain criteria. Brokers have no binding authority when it comes to underwriting; SCPIE-AHI reserves the right to make the final determination regarding any new business.

We seek long-term, substantive relationships with agencies and brokerages that meet the following criteria:

• Healthcare is an important part of the brokerage’s strategic plan.
• The brokerage possesses a book of healthcare industry business.
• Selected staff members have experience in healthcare professional liability.
• The brokerage has a reputation for honest, highly ethical business dealings with clients and carriers.
• Neither the brokerage, its principals nor any of its employees have ever had their insurance licenses suspended or revoked.

Additionally, brokerages must meet the following requirements:

• Make a minimum premium volume commitment to SCPIE-AHI and implement a marketing plan to accomplish this goal.
• Complete a broker profile.
• Maintain the required resident and nonresident insurance licenses.
• Maintain a minimum of $1 million/$1 million E&O insurance coverage and provide a declaration page annually.
